I love to read, and I love sharing my thoughts on the books I read. Here are some examples of what I’ve written so far.
“Impressions: Thoughts on H.G Wells’ “The First Men in the Moon””
I had recently gotten a compendium of H.G Wells’ writings. I stumbled on this quirky story quite by chance and I was fascinated by it – a man writing about going to the moon would have been preposterous at his time. However, the inventiveness of the idea and the creativity of its execution I think, are two things that make this a must-read along with his other classics, “The Time Machine” and “War of the Worlds.”
The Grandfather I knew
This is an article I wrote to a Sri Lankan newspaper about my late grandfather. I wrote this before I studied to become a journalist. It is a eulogy for his 11th death anniversary. There was supposed to be a poem at the end I wrote, but the newspaper did not publish it.
“To recall the stories where [my grandfather] has shown his kindness would take more than these few words and would fill the pages of a book.”
